Taylor Lorenz made a name for herself covering 'online harassment' and 'abuse' and she never missed an opportunity to see a coded dog whistle in the most innocuous of statements.
She even accused Libs of TikTok account owner Chaya Raichik of 'stochastic terrorism' for simply reposting videos created and posted by Leftists because using their own words against them was beyond the pale.
When Luigi Mangione shot the unarmed United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in the back on a New York street, Lorenz justified the violence by claiming a denial of healthcare claims was akin to ruthless murder.
However, there's a phrase that Lorenz suddenly finds nuanced and complex.

WATCH: Journalist Taylor Lorenz defends the phrase, “death to America.”

“When people say ‘death to America,’ they mean ‘death to American imperialism.’” pic.twitter.com/tcCWTZETs1
Really, Taylor?
Really?
The same woman who screams 'genocide' about Israel pounding Hamas into the ground (in a war Hamas started, mind you) now wants to parse a phrase that has an obvious meaning? Miss Stochastic Terrorism now sees nuance in the words 'death to America?' The woman who thinks not wearing a mask makes you a serial killer thinks the chant is about imperialism and not the ravings of radical Islamists who despise the West?
She's beyond parody.
So I'll help Lorenz out, since basic journalistic practice is beyond her pay grade.
In 1979, Iranian radicals took 52 American diplomats and citizens hostage, holding them captive for 444 days. In 1983, Iran-backed Hezbollah bombed the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, killing 63 people (17 of whom were Americans). That same year, Hezbollah bombed a Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241 U.S. service members. The U.S. Embassy in Beirut was bombed again in September 1984, killing another 24 people, including two Americans. Between 1984 and 1991, Hezbollah kidnapped dozens of Westerners, including CIA station chief William Buckley, who was tortured and killed. Hezbollah operatives hijacked several planes between 1985 and 1988, including TWA Flight 847 in 1985 during which U.S. diver Robert Stethem was tortured and murdered. He was 24 years old. In 1996, Hezbollah bombed Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, killing 19 American Air Force members and wounding hundreds.
Throughout the Iraq War, Iran supplied Iraqi forces with IEDs and other weapons that wounded and killed at least 600 U.S. troops. In 2011, the U.S. thwarted an Iranian-backed plot to bomb the Saudi ambassador in Washington, D.C. -- an attack that would've killed or wounded many Americans. An American contractor was killed by a Hezbollah rocket during a 2019 attack. Iran-backed militias killed three U.S. troops in January 2024 during a drone attack in Jordan.
On top of all this, the Left warned that bombing Iran's nuclear sites -- as we did at the end of June -- would trigger 'sleeper cells' in the U.S. and launch terror attacks on innocent Americans. Sleeper cells let into the nation by Joe Biden's open borders policies.
None of those Americans, as far as I'm aware, are guilty of 'imperialism.' They're just normal men and women, going about their daily lives, and yet they're now legitimate targets of Iranian hatred.
And that's because 'death to America' has nothing to do with imperialism.
It has everything to do with a radical Islamist regime that despises the West and the ideologies embodied by America.
Just like Taylor Lorenz.
